Projected Starting Rotations: AL West
Rangers
SP1: deGrom
SP2: Eovaldi
SP3: Gore
SP4: Leiter
SP 5: Latz
This rotation looks like a lock for Opening Day. Perhaps Kumar Rocker can sneak in there, but he’s not having a great Spring. This rotation is cold right now, except for deGrom. I’m not in love with this rotation. It looks fragile. Leiter could have a breakout season. The Rangers desperately need deGrom to stay healthy, and that’s a huge ask.
Athletics
SP1: Severino
SP2: Springs
SP3: Civale
SP4: Lopez
SP5: Morales
The Athletics rotation looks locked for Opening Day. They’re all cold right now, except Severino. Its a mediocre rotation, but I think the Athletics will get many innings out of this rotation.
Astros
SP1: Brown
SP2: Javier
SP3: Imai
SP4: McCullers Jr
SP5: Burrows
SP6: Weiss
Six-man rotation. This rotation is hot in Spring with Brown, Imai, Burrows, and Weiss looking good this spring. The only question mark is whether McCullers Jr is healthy. He’s only pitched one inning so far this spring. I like this rotation. It is very solid and could be a strength of this team.
Angels
SP1: Kikcuhi
SP2: Soriano
SP3: Detmers
SP4: Rodriguez
SP5: Manoah
This rotation is ice cold this spring. They all seem to be struggling. Kochanowicz, who is not projected to be in the rotation, has had a very good spring to date. I would rather pick him over Manoah at this stage. Their prospect Klassen looks very good, too. I don’t expect him to be in the opening-day rotation, but I can see him making his debut at some stage this season. He looks very promising so far. Overall, I’m very concerned about this rotation. It looks below average.
Mariners
SP1: Gilbert
SP2: Woo
SP3: Castillo
SP4: Kirby
SP5: Hancock or Criswell
Miller is injured, so we’re looking at either Hancock or Criswell taking the fifth spot. Only Gilbert has looked good this spring. I’m not concerned about this rotation, though. It’s a class act.
